Background This study investigated the effects of posteromedial fracture fragments on the postoperative
stability of intertrochanteric fractures of the femur by analyzing the quantity and range of fragments in CT
3D reconstruction.
Materials and methods 20 patients from orthopedics department of Sree Mookambika institute of medical
sciences who underwent PFNA2 for unstable intertrochanteric fracture were selected and followed up for 6
months. Outcome in the form of post operative stability with posteromedial wall defect using X-rays and 3D
reconstruction was assessed. The mean age of the study group was 70.5 years.
