Introduction: Liver is the largest organ in the body which is the main organ of metabolism and
energy production. Any disruption in anatomical, physiological and functional aspects of liver
leads to disease condition. Acute and chronic liver diseases can interfere with the functions of the
liver and thereby cause symptoms. Liver disease rates are steadily increasing over the years.
Chronic liver disease occurs throughout the world irrespective of age, sex, region or race. The
most common liver diseases are of various types which include acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis,
fatty liver disease, cirrhosis and cancer
