Abstract

Background :

This intraoperative score can serve as a simple aid in communication among surgeonsduring intraoperative decision making, post anaesthesia care providers, surgical residents and ICU or surgical ward staff regarding patient’s immediate postoperative status. It varies from 0 to 10 points divided into three risk categories (0 to 4 high, 5 to 7 moderate, 8 to 10 low). It also helps in conveying the condition of a patient and prognosis after surgery to the attenders. It can be integrated into surgical quality improvement programs to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
