Introduction: Distal femoral fractures account for 7% of all femoral fractures, predominant in young
males following high energy trauma. Both operative modalities including retrograde nailing and distal
femur locking plate are being used with varying successes.
Aim: our aim is to study clinical, radiological and functional outcome of retrograde nailing vs distal
femur plating.
Material and method: The study carried out between April 2021 and December 2022. Total of 24
patients with distal one-third femur fracture treated. Out of total 12 patients were treated with retrograde
nailing and 12 patients were treated with distal femur plating. Out of all patient 16 patients were male
and 8 patients were female. Average age in nailing group is 43.6 years and in nailing group it is 42.8
years.
