BACKGROUND
In this study, we wanted to evaluate patients with acute myocardial infarction admitted to
ICCU with special reference to arrhythmias.
METHODS
This was a hospital based cross sectional study conducted among 50 patients who presented
to ICCU, Narayana Medical College and Hospital, at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, over a period
of one year from March 2014 to February 2025 after obtaining clearance from Institutional
Ethics Committee and written informed consent from the study participants.
RESULTS
Syncope is significantly dominant in NSTEMI. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) >
50 % observed in 50 % cases of NSTEMI in comparison to 2.5 % in STEMI which is
statistically significant. Statistically significant variables in STEMI included high mean TIMI
risk score > 5 and depressed LVEF < 50 %. Statistically significant variables in NSTEMI
included hypertension (HTN), syncope occurrence and LVEF > 50 %.
