Abstract

BACKGROUND

Conventional thyroidectomy is time-consuming and vulnerable to sutures 
slipping 
increasing 
the 
risk 
of 
haemorrhage 
and 
postoperative hematoma formation, while the use of electrocoagulation has a 
potential risk of injuring the nearby structures due to the lateral dispersion of heat. 
Haemostatic devices like Harmonic Scalpel provides bloodless field and low 
complication rates 
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES 
To compare the operating time, postoperative outcomes, and surgical complications 
of total thyroidectomy between the suture less technique using harmonic scalpel and 
classic suture ligation for haemostasis
