Background: Nutritional deficiencies are the most common cause of anemia in the tropical
countries. Deficiencies of vitamin B12 and folate can cause severe anemia and cytopenias
due to ineffective hematopoiesis and can sometimes minor hemolytic anemia. Vitamin D
deficiency is likely to play an important role in the very high prevalence of rickets,
osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and infections such as tuberculosis in
India. Aim is to study Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D levels in factory employees. Objective is
to evaluate Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels in factory employees and identify groups
vulnerable for these deficiencies
