Background: Effective management of postoperative pain following upper limb surgeries is
crucial for patient recovery and satisfaction. Dexamethasone is investigated as an adjuvant to
local anesthetics in supraclavicular brachial plexus block (SCBPB) to prolong analgesic
efficacy.
Methods: A 180-patient, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled elective upper limb
surgery study was conducted at Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences. Participants received
dexamethasone or saline local anaesthetic mixes. Measurements included opioid use, analgesia
duration, pain levels, patient satisfaction, and complications.
