Retrotympanum, Endoscopy, Middle earAbstract
The retrotympanum is a complex structure consisting of different spaces lying in the posterior wall of
the tympanic cavity. The use of the endoscope for the removal of cholesteatoma matrix from the
retrotympanum led to a decrease in cholesteatoma recidivism. Endoscopes were also used during
second-look operations to detect residual cholesteatoma.
