Background: Diabetic macular ischemia (DMI) is an important cause of visual dysfunction in diabetic retinopathy and results from progressive retinal capillary non-perfusion, particularly around the fovea. Conventional fluorescein angiography is invasive and provides limited depth-resolved information regarding individual retinal capillary plexuses.
