Abstract

Nutrition, systemic health, genetic and epigenetic factors, oral cleanliness, and other factors all affect periodontal health. Numerous studies have demonstrated that having a balanced diet is necessary to maintain periodontal health. Additionally, it is known that the consequences of nutritional supplements and dietary elements may have an effect on the recovery process after periodontal surgery. Studies have sought to determine whether diet, periodontal health, and tooth loss are related. Also influencing bone formation and periodontal regeneration are a number of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Presenting the most recent information on food and the preservation of periodontal health and recovery is the goal of this review.
