Abstract

Coronary artery disease, caused by atherosclerosis, is the leading cause of death worldwide, 
with an estimated prevalence of 54.5 million in India, as on 2016. One in 4 deaths in India are 
now because of Cardiovascular diseases, with ischemic heart disease and stroke responsible 
for >80% of this burden.
