Outcome of second kidney transplant : Aurangabad Experience

Abstract

Second kidney transplantation gives survival advantage over maintenance dialysis in a failed first kidney transplant. Cost benefit ratio favors re-transplantation. This retrospective treatment analysis of 45 second kidney transplant done in Aurangabad over 31 year was undertaken to evaluate causes of failure of native kidney , first and second kidney grafts, patient and graft survival rates , rejection rates, outcome of second kidney transplants , and to study impact of time on dialysis after first graft failure , induction by interleukin 2 receptor antibody vs rabit anti-thymocyte globulin on patient and graft survival after second transplant
