Background: Contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) is considered to be one of the most common major adverse effects of cardiac catheterization and is associated with short and long-term morbidity and mortality. CIN pathogenesis is still not completely understood although it is clear that the root concept is medullary hypoxia-induced renal tubular damage. Objective: The study aimed to assess the efficacy of magnesium sulphate in prevention of CIN in patients undergoing primary coronary intervention.
