.Abstract
This article explores the role and outcomes of ozone therapy in the prevention and management of dental caries. It highlights the benefits of ozone, including its bactericidal, analgesic, anti inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties. Various forms of ozone used in dentistry, such as ozonated water, ozonated olive oil, and ozone gas, are discussed. The authors reviewed studies demonstrating the positive effects of ozone therapy on patients with caries. Additionally, the research outlines the specific effects of ozonated water, including its disinfectant and anti-inflammatory properties, its ability to activate intracellular metabolism in the oral mucosa and dental wounds, its enhancement of local blood circulation, its stimulation of regenerative functions, and its hemostatic effect on capillary bleeding. Finally, the article emphasizes the importance of an ozone generator and equipment for producing ozone-oxygen (O3/O2) gas mixtures in dental applications.
