Our experience of postoperative complications of thyroid surgery-tertiary care centre study

Background At this time, one of the safest operations done is thyroid surgery, if the surgeon is very skilled. However, there are risks involved, as there are with any surgical procedure. The purpose of this research is to collect data on the incidence of post-operative problems after different types of thyroidectomies, as well as the results of patient care and follow-up for up to a year after surgery. Methods and Material: This prospective study included consecutive 50 cases of thyroid surgeries satisfying inclusion criteria in single institute. The data in the study was collected by the use of a pretested proforma till the time of discharge and during follow up period of 1 year. The collected data was analyzed in terms of patient demographics, indications and type of thyroidectomy, postoperative complications and outcomes.
