Management, Challenges, Innovations and Role of Smart Medicine Drug Delivery System in Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders affecting glucose regulation and impacts approximately 9% of the global population, with an estimated 285 million adults worldwide. This review highlights current advancements and emerging therapies for managing diabetes, particularly Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Traditional T1DM treatments involve daily glucose monitoring and insulin injections. Recent innovations include closed-loop systems integrating advanced glucose monitors, hormone delivery technologies, and control algorithms for personalized, automated treatment.
