Background: Epidural anaesthesia is a method of neuraxial pain control in which anaesthetic medications are injected into the epidural space to block sensory and motor spinal nerve roots in the thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, and lower extremity areas. Epidural anaesthesia is a safe procedure that offers a numerous advantages, such as lowering the dangers of volatile anaesthetic exposure and the necessity for general anaesthesia. Magnesium sulphate is an NMDA receptor antagonist and inhibitor of voltage gated calcium channel. Magnesium sulphate has been safely administered epidurally as an adjuvant to local anaesthetic drugs during thoracic and orthopaedic procedures.
