Abstract

BACKGROUND Psychological well-being is markedly impaired in women diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). The susceptibility of women with PCOS to anxiety and depression diagnoses, as well as other psychiatric diseases, is independent of weight. Recent studies have indicated an increased susceptibility to mood and anxiety issues in women diagnosed with PCOS. Women diagnosed with PCOS consistently exhibit elevated depression scores and have an increased susceptibility to depression, regardless of their BMI. While the clinical manifestations of hyperandrogenism have an impact on the quality of life connected to health, the connection between hirsutism, acne, body image, and depression lacks clarity at now. Equally, there is a scarcity of research about the correlation between factors such as biochemical hyperandrogenism or infertility and depression. It is crucial to conduct screenings for these patients to identify such conditions. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of psychiatric disorders in PCOS.
