.Abstract
Background: Non-Q wave myocardial infarction is more common in elderly subjects. The main concerning factor in elderly subjects is that only a few subjects have ECG findings and symptoms that qualify them for thrombolytic therapy. This can be attributed to extensive collateral protection against transmural infarction or reduced incidence of sudden plaque rupture. Cardiovascular complications such as heart failure, atrial defibrillation, and/or cardiogenic shock are common heart disease concerns seen in elderly subjects.
