Abstract

Aim and Objective: This study aims to compare the demographic, lifestyle, and anthropometric characteristics between COPD smokers and healthy smokers. Methods: This comparative, observational, cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the demographic, lifestyle, and anthropometric characteristics of COPD smokers versus healthy smokers at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, JLN Medical College, Ajmer, Rajasthan, from August 2017 to October 2018. A total of 100 participants, including 50 COPD smokers and 50 healthy smokers, were purposively sampled based on defined inclusion and exclusion criteria, using spirometry for COPD diagnosis (FEV1/FVC ratios < 70% for COPD and > 70% for healthy controls). Data collection involved detailed history-taking, anthropometric measurements (weight, height, BMI), and pulmonary function tests (FVC, FEV1). The study followed ethical guidelines with institutional approval and informed consent from participants. Data were analyzed using [insert statistical methods, SPSS software, Chi-square tests] to identify significant differences between the two groups, with a significance level set at p < 0.05.
