Abstract

Introduction: Carcinoma breast accounts for one third of all malignancies affecting women. The use of molecular biomarkers have an important therapeutic significance in cases of breast carcinoma. Proliferation of the malignant cells play a substantial role to predict recurrence risk. Ki-67 is a nuclear protein that is expressed in the S, G1, G2, and M phases of the cell cycle and is a robust marker of cell proliferation. The present study aimed primarily at assessing the expression of Ki-67 in breast carcinoma and its association with other clinicopathological parameters.
