SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC DETERMINANTS OF PERCEIVED STRESS AMONG SCHOOL-GOING ADOLESCENTS: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Introduction: In the present scenario, as society is influenced by modernization, the path from adolescence to adulthood is endowed with stress. Therefore, it deserves special attention and must be explored in depth. Objective: To find out the prevalence and socio-demographic determinants of perceived stress among school-going adolescents in the Agroha block of Haryana. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out among 300 school-going adolescents of classes 8th to 12th from ten government senior secondary schools in block Agroha. Thirty students from each school and six students from each class were enrolled in the study. After this, 3 boys and 3 girls from each class were selected by simple random sampling and were administered tools of data collection. The primary tool in this study was a predesigned and pretested interview schedule. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS 10) was used for the assessment of stress levels among adolescents.
