Abstract

Tuberculous pericarditis is a rare but severe form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, presenting with diverse clinical manifestations. This case series describes three distinct presentations of tuberculous pericardial disease: a 21-year-old male with pericardial effusion, a 16-year-old male with cardiac tamponade, and a 65-year-old male with constrictive pericarditis and bilateral pleural effusion. Each patient underwent specific interventions, including pericardiocentesis, pigtail catheter insertion, and pericardectomy, followed by anti-tubercular therapy (ATT). All patients demonstrated favorable outcomes, with resolution of symptoms and no disease recurrence. These cases highlight the importance of early diagnosis, timely intervention, and the critical role of ATT in managing tuberculous pericarditis. Recognizing the varied presentations can prevent complications and improve patient outcomes in TB endemic regions.
