Effect Of Noninvasive Mechanical Ventilation on Treatment Outcomes Among Patients of Chronic Respiratory Diseases with Type 2 Respiratory Failure at A Tertiary Health Care Facility

Abstract

Background To establish the effect of NIMV on treatment outcome among patients of chronic respiratory with T2RF and determine predictors of outcome. Method: This longitudinal study included 192 patients with chronic respiratory diseases admitted to the inpatient department, receiving BiPAP ventilator support using a full-face mask history, vitals and ABG were analyzed and the treatment outcomes were recorded as (i) Death (ii) Fully recovered with non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) (iii) Switched from NIMV to IMV and died (iv) Switched from NIMV to IMV and then back to NIMV and recovered.
