Study to assess the practicality and safety of doing a transperineal prostate biopsy under local anesthesia in a tertiary care hospital

Abstract

Aim: Assess the safety and feasibility of free hand transperineal prostate biopsy under local anesthesia in patients attending the urology department. Materials and methods: This prospective observational study was conducted between February 2023 to February 2024. Men aged 50 years or older who were clinically diagnosed and referred for prostate biopsy due to elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, abnormal digital rectal examination (DRE), or suspected prostate pathology were included.
