β-thalassemia major is a severe inherited hemoglobinopathy characterized by lifelong transfusion dependence. Repeated blood transfusions lead to progressive iron overload, which contributes to hepatic, renal, endocrine, and cardiovascular complications. Serum ferritin is widely used as an accessible surrogate marker of body iron stores and remains an important tool for monitoring iron burden in clinical practice
