Background: Cellular senescence is a state of irreversible cell-cycle arrest that acts as a key regulator of tissue homeostasis, organismal aging, and many diseases. Transient senescence supports normal development, wound repair, and tumour suppression, whereas persistent  senescent cells promote chronic inflammation
